On Saturday, we received a phone call from a customer stating that her shower handle had broken off in her master bathroom. This customer had called us out to her home a few months back to replace her main water shut-off valve, as it had seized up.
Upon arriving to her home the former instance, we had discovered that nearly every shut-off valve in her home was seized up, and had gone about replacing all of the for her. During that time, we had performed our complimentary water test in her home, and had discovered that her home’s water quality was very poor. Poor water quality is extremely common here in the Phoenix area, and when left untreated, can lead to all sorts of problems, from premature water heater failures to slab leaks. During this last visit, we discussed water treatment with our customer, and went over the options that we offer.
When we arrived back at the home on Saturday, our customer already knew that her new issue, just like her seized up shut-off valves, was due to the hard water in her home. It was during this visit that she wanted to ensure her water quality problem is addressed, ensuring that further plumbing deterioration is avoided.
Fortunately, this customer was educated on the harmful effects of hard water before serious damage was done to her home. Far too often, homeowners wait until a catastrophic event, such as a sudden rupture of a water line, to address their home’s hard water.
