A few tips on how to hire the right plumber in Mesa.

Hiring a Mesa plumber to do work in your home can feel like a daunting task, especially if the service you need is for a large project. Watch this short video and/or keep reading below.

Being plumbers for many years, we know the codes, climates, and construction of the area. We know what works and what doesn’t work. And we are passionate about educating homeowners on finding the right Mesa plumbers.

Look for the right qualifications.

This may prove to be the toughest part. Many websites look the same, have the same information, and many companies claim the same thing. It’s generally not good enough to pick your Mesa plumber solely based on the look of their website. You can start by calling one of the companies and asking a few questions.

  1. Is your company licensed? What is your license number?
  2. Is your company insured? May I see a copy of your current proof of insurance?

It’s really never good enough to ask the company if they are licensed or insured. Any of them can respond “Yes”. But that doesn’t mean they are current or telling the truth. Ask for proof. Legitimate companies should have no problem proving their qualifications

Ask the company for references.

Most well ran organizations will have readily available references. The key thing to look for is the quantity of references. Any company can give you 5-10 references. But if they have been in business for quite some time and they are reputable and do good work, wouldn’t they have more than 5-10 references? Once you receive the references don’t be bashful. Call a few of them. Get the confidence you need that this company will do a good job.

Look for online reviews.

An easy way to do this is to perform a google search looking for (“Company name” reviews). You’ll most likely see third party sites where consumers can leave feedback on companies. Here is a few tips when scoping out reviews. Many of the Mesa plumbers in town will work for 2-4 customers every day. Which means at the end of the year this can amount to over 1,000 customers serviced per service technician. For a company that has 5 service technicians, that can mean over 5,000 customers serviced in a single year. Don’t judge a company based on a few bad reviews. A company that services over 5,000 customers a year are bound to have a few bad reviews here and there. It’s impossible to please every customer. The companies with nothing but 5 star reviews are the ones you need to be weary of. They may be fabricating their own reviews. Look for a 90% 4 and 5 star rating. If the company has 90% good reviews, chances are they are a good pick.

With these tips, and some due diligence you’ll be sure to find the right phoenix plumber. And if they do a good job, don’t forget to leave a nice review for them.

Need a Sewer Replacement, here are a few things you need to know.

Does A Plumber Need A Permit To Do Sewer Replacement In The City Of Mesa.

We recently did a sewer replacement for one of our customers in Mesa and the customer asked an intriguing question to one of our Service Professionals here at Legendary Home Services – does the plumber need a permit to do a sewer replacement in the City of Mesa? This was a question we have been asked numerous times and the simple answer is yes. This is as a great question, especially when you care about your property and worry about how much money you are going to spend on replacing your sewer line. In this article, we will talk about the importance of a permit and what a permit means to you as a consumer.

Here is another short video that we prepared:

Number 1: If it required by the City, it is required by the ROC

The ROC requires all licensed plumbers to obtain a permit for many plumbing repairs, but only if it is required by the City. According to the City of Mesa, permits are required for most plumbing repairs and, therefore, is also a requirement by the ROC. Therefore if your plumber tells you he cannot pull a permit for your sewer replacement, it gives you reason to doubt if he is actually licensed.

Number 2: It provides you with Third Party Protection

Not only is it important to the ROC for plumbers to acquire plumbing permits, but it is also required by the City of Mesa for most plumbing repairs. The city makes sure that plumbers own up to their responsibility that all sewer replacements hold up to city code. Once the sewer replacement is completed, the City of Mesa will send out an Inspector to come and investigate the slope of the line. By doing this, they make sure that the sewer lines were installed according to the National Plumbing Code of the United States and the City of Mesa Regulations. By doing this the City of Mesa makes sure you are provided with Third Party Protection.

Number 3: It protects your property and helps it maintain its value

By pulling a permit on a large scale repair such as a sewer replacement, future buyers of your property would have ease of mind that all precautions have been taken to make sure that the repair has been done according to code.

Do I Need More Than One Permit To Do Sewer Replacement In Mesa On the Inside Of My Property And The Alley?

According to City of Mesa, a permit is needed for all sewer replacements done on the inside of your property (only one permit is needed for all sewer lines replaced within the boundaries of your property) and another permit is need if sewer lines are replaced outside the boundaries of your property, for example, in the alley behind your house.

Do you need to use a licensed plumber to replace your sewer line in Mesa.

What are the licensing requirements for replacing a sewer line in Mesa?

According to the Statutes of Arizona Registrar of Contractors also known as (ROC) ARTICLE 2. LICENSING §32-1121. A.4: States that any materialman, manufacturer or retailer who furnishes finished products, materials or articles of merchandise and who does not install or attach such items or installs or attaches such items if the total value of the sales contract or transaction involving such items and the cost of the installation or attachment of such items to a structure does not exceed one thousand dollars, including labor, materials and all other items, but excluding any electrical fixture or appliance that was designed by the manufacturer, that is unaltered, unchanged or unmodified by any person, that can be plugged into a common household electrical outlet utilizing a two pronged or three pronged electrical connector and that does not use any other form of energy, including natural gas, propane or other petroleum or gaseous fuel, to operate or is attached by a nail, screw or other fastening device to the frame or foundation of any residential structure. The materialman, manufacturer or retailer shall inform the purchaser that the installation may also be performed by a by a licensed contractor whose name and address the purchaser may request.

The simple answer to this question is – Yes, if the cost of getting your sewer replaced is over $1,000. If the cost of getting your sewer line replaced is less than $1,000 than you may not need a licensed plumber. In most cases, sewer replacements in phoenix are going to cost over $1,000. So, it’s best to use a licensed plumber for your sewer replacement. Not only will it be required, but you’ll also have third party consumer protection from the state.

We understand getting your sewer line replaced can feel like a daunting task. Here is another video that maybe of help with your questions:

Does any license with the ROC cover my sewer replacement in Phoenix?

A very important note to remember that it’s never good enough to ask the plumber if he holds a license. Just because the plumber states he holds a license does not mean he can perform work on your property. What’s important to understand is that different licenses have different classifications. You need to be sure the plumber is working within their scope of their license. You can check a contractors license and the classification of their license by visiting the Arizona ROC website here. https://azroc.gov
